Indeed, unbeknownst to them, the World of the Coinless reality is about to be drawn into a major multiverse conflagration that will surely need new tactics and news way of thinking if the Power Rangers are to survive.Many fall in the face of chaos, but not this one. In doing so, he sacrifices an untold number of lives including Adam Park, one of Kimberly's top lieutenants.įortunately, his old teammates Kimberly, Zack, and Trini are able to convince the Red Ranger that Zordon's old ways are no longer effective, and that a new means of "protecting and serving" humanity is needed. While this team is in a heated battle with a minion of Dark Specter, Jason in essence "pulls the plug" on their power source by taking back the Power Coins. However, those same forces then team with Kimberly and the Coinless Rangers Zack and Trini. Drakkon used the coins to power his army of Ranger Sentries. Jason's new persona is most clearly illustrated in his reclamation of the Power Coins Drakkon took from the Power Rangers he defeated - with Jason's help - during his conquest of Earth. He wants payback for the past decade of suffering and is not interested in who gets hurt on the way.
Once freed, his immediate focus is getting revenge on Drakkon and anyone who helped him fulfill his plans. This Jason is broken, angry, and violent. When Kimberly finds him in Drakkon's dungeon, he no longer has the gung-ho, positive powerhouse personality he used to. Naturally suffering such mental anguish and physical trauma over so a long time changes Jason. Over the next decade, Tommy mentally and physically tortures him relentlessly until he literally becomes Tommy's most "trusted" battle advisor in his conquest of Earth and Rita's forces.
Tommy then takes him hostage for his own personal depraved use. The reality is that Jason wasn't killed in Tommy's initial assault on the Command Center but just injured. This attack happens in Kyle Higgins and Daniel Bayliss' Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #15 when Tommy goes on a rampage after voluntarily pledging allegiance to Rita. Up to this point, fans have been led to believe that this reality's Red Ranger was killed defending the Power Rangers Command Center from Tommy.
